A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a reversing vehicle in North Ipswich on the night of August 27, Queensland Police said. The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the incident.

Police said an 81-year-old woman was on Simmons Road at about 10:35 p.m. when a white Nissan X-Trail reversed into her, knocking her to the ground. She suffered serious head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 84-year-old driver of the vehicle was not physically injured and is assisting police with their inquiries. Investigators are appealing for witnesses and anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.
