Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Luxembourg Prime Minister Luc Frieden discussed budgetary, military and humanitarian support for Ukraine during a meeting in Kyiv on Aug. 24, Ukraine’s Independence Day. Zelenskyy said Frieden’s visit was an important signal of support for Ukrainians and those defending the country’s independence. The leaders reviewed the outcomes of the Coalition of the Willing meeting and discussed measures to strengthen Ukraine’s resilience during the coming fall and winter. The Ukrainian president outlined urgent priorities, including financing the armed forces and addressing the country’s budget deficit. He said Luxembourg could help develop solutions through bilateral cooperation and within the European Union. Zelenskyy also thanked Luxembourg for its readiness to provide humanitarian assistance, including support for the reconstruction of university dormitories.
