Ukraine Showcases Drone Power

Ukraine held its first drone parade in Kyiv on Aug. 24 to mark the 35th anniversary of the restoration of its independence, displaying nearly 100 domestically produced aerial, ground and naval systems, according to the office of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The parade featured 30 unmanned ground vehicles used for reconnaissance, mine clearance, logistics, fire support and medical evacuation. Ukrainian officials said the vehicles had completed more than 66,000 missions this year, while the Defense Forces contracted more than 22,000 domestically produced ground systems in 2026.

Nine unmanned surface vessels also traveled along the Dnipro River. The platforms, including Sea Baby, Magura and Sargan, are designed for patrol, reconnaissance and strikes against maritime targets. The presidential office credited the vessels with helping challenge Russia’s naval dominance in the Black Sea.

The aerial display included interceptor drones, bomber systems and reconnaissance aircraft. Officials said long-range strike drones had conducted nearly 2,000 attacks last year against military facilities, logistics hubs and other targets in Russia, while reconnaissance drones such as SHARK and LF-400 support targeting operations from distances far behind the front line.
