A 52-year-old Rothwell man has been charged with eight offences after allegedly striking a police vehicle while attempting to evade officers in Petrie Terrace on August 19. No police officers or members of the public were injured. Queensland Police said officers from the Fortitude Valley Tactical Crime Squad saw a dark grey Volkswagen Golf travelling north on Petrie Terrace at about 5pm. Police attempted to intercept the vehicle on Pratten Street, where it allegedly collided with the police car and a retaining wall before officers removed the driver and took him into custody. Police allege that a search of the vehicle located dangerous drugs, weapons and property suspected of being connected to further drug offences. The charges include dangerous operation of a vehicle, endangering a police officer, driving under the influence of an intoxicating substance, drug possession, weapons offences and driving without a licence. The man was due to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on August 20. Police cited reference number QP2601616461 and encouraged anyone with information to contact Policelink or Crime Stoppers.
