Residents in Dirranbandi, Queensland, have been advised to boil water before consumption after raw river water entered the town’s water reticulation system.

Balonne Shire Council issued the emergency alert at 9:37 p.m. on Saturday, August 15, following a malfunction at the Dirranbandi Water Treatment Plant. The warning applies to water used for drinking and other consumption.

Residents have been directed to check the council’s Emergency Dashboard at emergency.balonne.qld.gov.au for updates. Anyone whose life is in danger should call Triple Zero (000).
