Three Charged Over Dalby Copper Theft

Three men have been charged over the alleged theft of more than 100 kilograms of copper from a power station in Dalby, Queensland. Police said the copper was taken from the facility on Grahams Road between 5:30 p.m. and midnight on August 1.

As part of the investigation, officers conducted a search at a Dalby address on August 4 and allegedly found stolen copper and methylamphetamine. A 36-year-old Chinchilla man was charged with receiving tainted property and possessing dangerous drugs.

A 32-year-old Dalby man was charged with receiving tainted property, while a 29-year-old Dalby man was charged with entering premises and committing an indictable offence. All three are scheduled to appear before Dalby Magistrates Court on October 6.

The arrests were made under Operation Cobre, a South West District initiative targeting the theft, transport, disposal and illegal trade of copper. Police said copper theft from critical infrastructure can cause service disruptions, costly repairs and broader impacts on the community.
