NVIDIA has announced the commercial availability of Alpamayo 2 Super, an open model designed for robotaxis and other autonomous vehicles. The company presented the model as a tool for addressing complex driving situations that are difficult to anticipate and represent in training data.

According to NVIDIA, autonomous vehicles must do more than detect objects and predict movement when handling rare “long-tail” events. They also need to interpret the surrounding situation, reason about cause and effect, and select an appropriate response.

The model is part of NVIDIA’s broader effort to support the development of autonomous-driving systems through open technology. The company’s announcement was published through its newsroom on Aug. 4, 2026, and includes related media materials and technical information.
