Man Charged After Yeronga Police Assault

A 25-year-old Rochedale South man has been charged after allegedly assaulting a Queensland police officer during an incident in Yeronga on August 1. The injured Senior Constable was taken to hospital and later released.

Police were called to a Park Road address at about 5:50 p.m. following reports of a disturbance involving a male resident. Officers allegedly found the man armed with a piece of wood, which he is accused of using to threaten police before throwing it at them and climbing onto a police vehicle.

Police, including the dog squad, made several attempts to engage with the man before he allegedly fled on foot. Officers allege he assaulted the Senior Constable while resisting arrest.

The man has been charged with two counts of serious assault of a police officer causing bodily harm, including one charge involving an alleged weapon. He is due to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on August 3.
