Woman Charged After Highway Incidents

A 45-year-old Warwick woman has been charged with eight offences following a series of alleged dangerous driving incidents between Marmor and Miriam Vale in Queensland’s Gladstone region on July 22. No one was physically injured in the resulting crashes.

Queensland Police said they received multiple calls between 9:40 a.m. and 11:10 a.m. about a dark blue Toyota LandCruiser allegedly being driven dangerously along several sections of the Bruce Highway. At about 10:30 a.m., police responded to reports that the vehicle had entered oncoming traffic, resulting in a crash involving two other vehicles.

Police said the driver fled south after officers arrived and was later tracked to Miriam Vale. The LandCruiser was allegedly driven into a police vehicle before the woman was arrested a short time later.

The charges include dangerous operation of a vehicle, driving under the influence of an intoxicating substance, driving with an unlawful blood-alcohol level, evading police, allegedly endangering a police officer, breaching an interlock condition, breaching bail, possessing a knife in a public place and seriously assaulting a police officer. She was due to appear in Gladstone Magistrates Court on July 23.
