Samsung Unveils Three New Foldables

Samsung Electronics unveiled its eighth-generation Galaxy Z foldable lineup at Galaxy Unpacked in London on July 22, introducing the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Flip8. The company highlighted slimmer designs, expanded displays and new artificial intelligence features tailored to different mobile-use scenarios.

The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra is Samsung’s first Ultra-branded foldable. It features an 8-inch main display, measures 4.1 millimeters thick when unfolded and weighs 215 grams. Samsung said its Flex Titanium technology is designed to reduce crease visibility and improve durability. The device includes a 5,000mAh battery and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy processor.

The Galaxy Z Fold8 has a redesigned form factor, with a 5.5-inch cover display and a 7.6-inch main screen. Weighing 201 grams, it is the lightest Galaxy Z Fold model to date, according to Samsung. New software features include My FanCam, which automatically reframes videos around a selected subject, and AI tools that can help users find accommodations based on information in images and conversations.

The Galaxy Z Flip8 weighs 180 grams and is 6.1 millimeters thick when unfolded. Its updated FlexWindow provides access to notifications, apps and personalized information without opening the phone. Camera additions include Camcorder Grip, improved Super Steady stabilization and Dual Recording, which captures the creator and subject in the same video. Samsung said the new lineup is designed to expand foldable-phone use across productivity, entertainment and everyday tasks.
