President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, emphasized the significance of veteran sports, rehabilitation, and adaptation programs during his participation in the forum “Innovation and Development in Sports During Wartime.” The event, held at the National University of Physical Education and Sport of Ukraine (NUPESU), focused on integrating defenders into civilian life and promoting adaptive sports. Zelenskyy highlighted the need for the state to prioritize these programs to ensure veterans feel fully included in society.

The forum introduced a new approach to adaptive sports, including the American TotalFit methodology for holistic recovery, and discussed the development of military-technological sports. Additionally, a concept for advancing sports science in Ukraine, known as the Olympic Lab project, was presented. Zelenskyy visited the NUPESU Rehabilitation Center to witness firsthand the physical and sports-based rehabilitation provided to defenders, emphasizing the importance of high standards in these efforts.

During interactions with young individuals, the President stressed the role of the youth in building necessary infrastructure for veterans in peacetime, highlighting the need for sports infrastructure development to engage people in physical activities effectively. Zelenskyy also underscored the significance of modern equipment for studying athletes’ physical responses to training. The President’s commitment to supporting veteran sports and rehabilitation aligns with his vision of ensuring veterans receive the respect and inclusivity they deserve in society.
