Two people have been charged after Queensland police allegedly found a firearm, ammunition and drugs during a vehicle search at Morayfield overnight on July 17.

Detectives from the Caboolture Criminal Investigation Branch approached a 39-year-old man and a 42-year-old woman in a Mitsubishi Triton at a shopping centre car park on Morayfield Road at about 12:45 a.m. Police said the items were located while searching the vehicle.

The Caboolture man was charged with unlawful possession of a Category H short firearm in a public place and an explosives-related offence. He was expected to appear in Caboolture Magistrates Court on July 17.

The Auchenflower woman was charged with two counts of possessing a dangerous drug, as well as offences relating to drugs over the schedule, drug utensils or pipes and possessing anything used in the commission of a crime. She is due to appear in the same court on August 4. The allegations have not been tested in court.
