The European Parliament has scheduled a last-minute press briefing today at 16:30 to discuss the agenda of the 6-9 July plenary session. The briefing will be held in the Daphne Caruana Galizia press room and broadcasted online via Interactio. This week’s plenary session will cover a range of critical issues including the improvement of air passenger rights, the priorities of the Irish Council presidency, and the outcomes of the recent European Council meeting. Additional discussions will focus on environmental challenges such as recurring heatwaves, wildfires, and the coordination of EU member states’ social security systems. Among other significant topics, the Parliament will vote on support measures for farmers affected by rising fertiliser costs and deliberate on strengthening the automotive sector’s competitiveness. The session will also address the EU-Mexico trade partnership, cybersecurity, AI initiatives, and the progress of Ukraine, Moldova, and Serbia towards EU membership. Moreover, there will be a discussion aimed at supporting civil society and anti-war movements in Russia. The briefing will be interpreted in multiple languages including English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, and Polish.
