Police in Avoca are stepping up their search for a suspect following a parcel theft incident last month. The Queensland Police Service (QPS) issued an appeal on June 8, 2026, requesting public assistance to identify a man captured in newly released surveillance images.

The incident occurred on May 25, when an unidentified male approached a residence on Mott Street at approximately 2:20 PM. The suspect rang the doorbell several times before absconding with a parcel that had been left unattended at the front door.

Chief Inspector Grant Marcus of the Bundaberg Patrol Group is urging residents to enhance their home security measures, including the installation of security cameras and tamper-proof padlocks on mailboxes. According to Marcus, “Parcel theft is an opportunistic offense that consistently poses a threat to community security.”

The public is encouraged to report any relevant information or suspicious activities directly to the police. Information can be submitted anonymously through Crime Stoppers or by using the Queensland Police online suspicious activity form. Immediate emergencies or crimes in progress should be reported via the emergency number, 000.
