Detectives in Ipswich have charged six teenagers following an evade police incident that occurred overnight. The Queensland Police Service reported that on Learoyd Road in Willawong at 10:40 pm, police officers spotted a black Mitsubishi ASX that was believed to be stolen. Despite attempts to stop the vehicle, it fled and was tracked by Polair through Inala and Oxley before heading west on the Ipswich Motorway. A tire deflation device was used successfully at 11:10 pm on Brisbane Road at Dinmore, causing the vehicle to eventually stop on the Ipswich Motorway in Wacol. The driver, a 13-year-old male, along with the five passengers, were taken into custody. The police allege that the vehicle was stolen from a carpark in Browns Plains on May 16. The 13-year-old driver faces charges of dangerous operation of a vehicle, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, and evade police. The other teenagers, aged 13, 14, and 15, were each charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle. The boys have been denied police bail and are scheduled to appear in Ipswich Children’s Court on May 19. Authorities are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has relevant information about the black Mitsubishi ASX to come forward and assist the investigation.
