Police in Glenella, Queensland, have detained a 30-year-old man following a nocturnal chase involving weapons and traffic violations. The incident, occurring early on March 27, involved the suspect attempting to evade police on a motorcycle during a targeted patrol in the area.

At around 1:50 AM, officers initiated a pursuit when the man fled on his motorcycle. He was apprehended shortly after on Royal Boulevard. A subsequent search revealed a shortened firearm in the suspect’s backpack. The man, hailing from Paget, faces several charges including unlawful possession of a weapon, obstructing a police officer, possessing a weapon with altered identification marks, unauthorized possession of explosives (ammunition), and multiple driving offenses such as operating unlicensed, unregistered, and uninsured.

Scheduled to appear in Mackay Magistrates Court on April 27, the case continues to develop as investigations proceed.
