A fatal crash on the Bruce Highway near Bajool, approximately 30 kilometers south of Rockhampton, claimed the life of a 63-year-old man from Paget last night. According to initial reports, the accident involved a head-on collision between an orange Holden Colorado utility and a white Holden Rodeo utility near Oaky Creek Road’s intersection. The driver of the Rodeo was pronounced dead at the scene, while the occupants of the Colorado, a 36-year-old male driver and a 33-year-old female passenger, suffered minor injuries and were taken to Rockhampton Hospital for treatment. The highway was shut down for approximately six hours to facilitate an extensive examination by emergency services. This closure significantly impacted traffic flow in both directions, underscoring the severity of the crash. Authorities are now appealing to the public for any dashcam footage or eyewitness accounts from the time leading up to the collision.
