President Volodymyr Zelenskyy recently initiated his Munich visit by meeting with leaders and employees of Quantum Frontline Industries, the pioneering Ukrainian-German joint venture that develops drones for Ukraine’s military. The visit, which took place on February 13, 2026, also included Germany’s Defense Minister Boris Pistorius. Quantum Frontline Industries stands as the first serial production facility of Ukrainian unmanned systems in Europe. During the visit, President Zelenskyy toured the production lines and witnessed a demonstration of the facility’s first attack drone. The advanced drones, powered by AI technology primarily developed in Ukraine, have demonstrated effectiveness in frontline engagements. The collaboration, part of the Build with Ukraine initiative, benefits from financial backing by a dedicated German task force. In his remarks, President Zelenskyy expressed gratitude towards Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz and the German government for their substantial support. He highlighted the strategic importance of the venture, saying, “We are very proud that Ukraine has such talented people, and we are very proud that we have such close ties with such strong German partners.” Additionally, the meeting was marked by the signing of several key agreements aimed at further solidifying Ukrainian-German military cooperation. Among these were an agreement for the integration of Ukrainian instructors into the German Army’s training institutions, signed by Ukraine’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrii Sybiha and Minister Pistorius, as well as three memoranda concerning the establishment of additional joint ventures and a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ukrainian Defense Industry and SAAB. By the end of the year, Ukraine expects to inaugurate ten more drone production ventures across Europe, significantly expanding its defense manufacturing footprint on the continent.
