Parliament’s rapporteurs, Lena Düpont (EPP, DE) and Alessandro Ciriani (ECR, IT), will brief the media on the new list of safe countries of origin and the application of the safe third countries regulation. The updates offer EU countries more latitude to deny asylum requests from nationals of countries deemed safe or those who could have sought protection in a third safe country outside the EU.
