Logan detectives have charged a 24-year-old Southport woman with cruelty to children under 16 years, related to the death of a three-week-old boy in Greenbank. The charge, labeled a domestic violence offense, stems from an incident that occurred on July 22, 2024. The woman, known to the deceased child, is scheduled to appear at Beenleigh Magistrates Court on March 4. The investigation, dubbed Operation Whiskey Nell, was initiated by the Logan Child Protection and Investigation Unit alongside the Child Trauma Unit. The extensive inquiry included comprehensive medical examinations revealing that the child had sustained internal injuries. This prolonged investigation led to the recent arrest of the woman on February 4. As the case progresses, authorities continue to gather evidence and explore further leads.
