Police have arrested a 27-year-old Victorian man in connection with a sexual assault reported at Yeppen Lagoon, The Range, Rockhampton. The incident, which occurred on the morning of January 25, led to an immediate investigation by Queensland Police.

At around 10:30 am, a woman was allegedly assaulted near a walking track adjacent to a local rugby field’s car park. Following the report, made at 11:00 am the same day, the victim was promptly transported to hospital, receiving necessary medical treatment and professional support.

Authorities set up a crime scene in the northern part of Yeppen Lagoon later that day. The subsequent investigation facilitated the suspect’s capture on January 26 at Boat Harbour Drive in Hervey Bay. The suspect is currently aiding police with their inquiries, and officials have assured the public that there is no further risk to community safety.

The Queensland Police continue their investigation and urge anyone who was in the vicinity of Yeppen Lagoon before or after the incident, or possesses CCTV or dashcam footage from nearby areas, to come forward. They are particularly interested in any sightings of a blue 2008 Toyota sedan around the time of the alleged crime.
