Initial reports from the Queensland Police Service (QPS) indicate that the vehicle was traveling at a high speed when it hit the e-scooter rider, causing him serious injuries. The victim was promptly transported to a hospital. Disturbingly, the driver did not stop to offer help and fled the scene before law enforcement arrived.

Authorities are urgently requesting anyone who was near Island Drive on the night of January 23 to come forward with any dashcam or CCTV footage that might have captured the incident or the vehicle involved.
