A fatal collision involving a pedestrian and a vehicle occurred on the evening of January 13th on Bruce Highway near Bajool, as confirmed by the Queensland Police Service (QPS). The crash has triggered an in-depth investigation by the Forensic Crash Unit.

At approximately 8:40 PM, emergency responders were dispatched following reports that a white Ford Mondeo station wagon had struck a pedestrian near Oakey Creek Road. Despite the immediate response from emergency services, the male pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, a 29-year-old man from Keppel Sands, received on-site medical treatment and is currently cooperating with police investigations.

QPS is actively seeking witnesses and has requested that anyone with dashcam footage from the time of the incident come forward to assist with the ongoing investigation. This tragic event highlights the critical need for adherence to road safety measures. The Queensland Police remind the public about the dangers of the ‘Fatal Five’: speeding, impaired driving, failure to wear seatbelts, driving while fatigued, and distracted driving. These behaviors significantly increase the risk of serious accidents on the roads. The community is urged to stay vigilant and prioritize safety to prevent further loss of life on roads. For more information on road safety, residents can visit the official Queensland Police road safety initiative page.

As the investigation continues, the police hope to uncover more details about the circumstances leading up to the fatal incident. The QPS extends their condolences to the family of the deceased and reiterates their commitment to improving road safety across the state.
