A serious traffic incident in Deception Bay has led to a man facing multiple charges, including dangerous operation of a vehicle. The incident, which occurred on the evening of December 20, involved a black Nissan Navara striking a pedestrian along Phillip Parade.

The Forensic Crash Unit of the Queensland Police Service reported that the collision took place around 7:20 PM, between Bundaberg Street and Nambour Court. Following the incident, the driver, who was alone in the vehicle, allegedly fled the scene. However, he later presented himself at a local police station.

The victim, a 21-year-old woman from Newport, was urgently transported to the Royal Brisbane Hospital and is currently in a serious but stable condition. The 49-year-old driver from Clontarf has been charged and is scheduled to appear at the Redcliffe Magistrates Court on February 3, 2026.

Police are continuing their investigation and have called on the public to provide any relevant information, CCTV, or dashcam footage. They urge anyone who can assist to contact Policelink or report anonymously via Crime Stoppers.
