Police in Queensland have arrested a 35-year-old man from Bellbird Park after he allegedly engaged in dangerous driving that led to a traffic collision in Helensvale. The incident occurred on the afternoon of December 20, following a brief pursuit on Dreamworld Parkway in Coomera.

According to the police report, the grey Peugeot driven by the suspect was seen moving erratically and at high speeds, prompting police attention. However, before any police intervention could occur, the vehicle sped off towards Helensvale, eventually eluding the officers. Shortly after losing sight of the Peugeot, authorities were alerted to a two-vehicle accident on Hope Island Road involving the same car and a white Ford van.

The collision resulted in non-life-threatening injuries to the 29-year-old Robina man driving the Ford, who was subsequently transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital in stable condition. The driver of the Peugeot fled the scene on foot but was apprehended a short distance away by the police. His passenger, a 56-year-old man, also from Bellbird Park, remained at the crash site.

The suspect has been charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle, driving under the influence of an intoxicating substance, and failing to remain at the incident to render assistance. He is scheduled to appear in Southport Magistrates Court on January 8, 2026.

Authorities are urging anyone with footage or information about the Peugeot’s movements prior to the crash to come forward and assist with the ongoing investigation. Information can be reported anonymously through Crime Stoppers or Policelink.
