A devastating traffic accident on Doomadgee Road early Friday morning has resulted in the deaths of a 30-year-old woman from Cloncurry and a 10-year-old girl, with three other children seriously injured. Queensland Police are currently investigating the incident involving a black 2011 Nissan Maxima and a white 2006 Toyota LandCruiser. Emergency services responded to the crash around 6:30 AM, where they found the driver and four passengers of the LandCruiser with severe injuries. The casualties included a 1-year-old boy, a 3-year-old girl, and a 4-year-old boy, who were all transported to the hospital for urgent medical treatment. A 28-year-old man was arrested shortly after the incident and remains in police custody. In their appeal for further information, investigators have released images of the vehicles involved. Mount Isa District Acting Superintendent Paul Austin emphasized the importance of any information related to the two vehicles seen in the days before the crash. He stated, “What occurred on Friday is nothing short of a tragedy, and our officers are dedicated to thoroughly investigating what has occurred, as well as working with the Doomadgee community.” The police are urging anyone who may have seen the vehicles or had interactions with the occupants before the incident to come forward.
