In a recent operation, Queensland Police have detained two individuals following a raid in Virginia, uncovering a cache of illegal drugs and weapons. The arrests were made at a Raleigh Road residence on the morning of November 4, as detailed in police reports. The operation led to the apprehension of a 29-year-old man who allegedly attempted to escape with a firearm when police executed a search warrant. The man was commanded to drop his weapon and was taken into custody without incident. A 68-year-old woman was also arrested for allegedly obstructing the police during the operation. During the search, authorities discovered a sawn-off shotgun, various ammunition, and quantities of cocaine, MDMA, and cannabis. The man faces multiple charges, including serious assault on a police officer, unlawful possession of category H weapons, possession of shortened firearms, possession of explosives without authority, and possession of property suspected of involvement in drug offenses. He is slated to reappear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on November 26. The woman is charged with serious assault on a police officer and will appear in court on December 12.
