Early this morning, a catastrophic traffic accident on Doomadgee Road claimed the lives of two people, including a child, and left several others injured. The incident led to the arrest of a 28-year-old local man.

At approximately 6:30 AM, emergency services rushed to the scene following reports of the crash. They discovered the vehicle with its occupants severely injured. Despite immediate first aid efforts, a 30-year-old woman from Cloncurry, who was driving the vehicle, died at the location. A 10-year-old girl was transported to Doomadgee Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The accident also left two other passengers with non-life-threatening injuries, while a third is in critical condition.

The police have taken a 28-year-old man into custody in connection to the crash. It has been disclosed that the man was acquainted with the deceased. Authorities have established a crime scene and are conducting a thorough investigation, although they have assured the public that there is no further threat to community safety.
