A severe incident unfolded in Surfers Paradise on the night of October 18, leading to the arrest of a 33-year-old man from Clayfield, charged with grievous bodily harm. Queensland Police were summoned to Cavill Avenue close to midnight after receiving reports of a man brandishing a broken glass bottle and threatening the public.

The situation escalated when the suspect allegedly assaulted a 19-year-old man from Gilston using a piece of glass following a verbal altercation. The victim was promptly transported to Gold Coast University Hospital, where he remains in stable condition. The assailant fled the scene but was captured by the police shortly after.

This violent episode led to the assailant’s apprehension, and he is scheduled to appear before Southport Magistrates Court on October 20. Authorities have confirmed there were no other physical injuries reported from the incident.
