Police in Upper Coomera have arrested a 43-year-old man after a serious assault involving a baseball bat on the evening of October 17. Authorities reported that the suspect forcibly entered a residence on Fleur Court, escalating to violence following a verbal dispute.

The incident began around 9pm when the suspect, known to the victim, entered the home armed. It escalated quickly as the suspect allegedly attacked a 50-year-old male resident with the bat. The altercation spilled outside where the suspect is said to have struck the victim with his vehicle, a grey BYD Seal, twice before fleeing the scene.

Responding to emergency calls, police and medical personnel arrived shortly after the incident. The victim was found with severe injuries and was promptly transported to Gold Coast University Hospital in serious condition.

Following an investigation, the assailant was apprehended at a residence in Highland Park. He faces charges including acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm and entering a dwelling to commit an indictable offense. He is scheduled for a court appearance at the Southport Magistrates Court today, October 18.
