President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy engaged in a phone conversation with Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Amir of the State of Qatar, to discuss efforts aimed at returning Ukrainian children reportedly abducted by Russia. The discussion, held on September 18, 2025, highlighted Qatar’s assistance and solidarity with Ukraine in this humanitarian cause.

President Zelenskyy expressed gratitude for Qatar’s support and invited the nation to join a summit organized by Ukraine and Canada in New York, focusing on the plight of Ukrainian children and steps to ensure their safe return. The President emphasized the significance of Qatar’s participation in the event, underscoring the shared commitment between the two countries.

Additionally, the leaders touched on the upcoming UN General Assembly agenda, coordinating future engagements, and reaffirming their commitment to maintain open communication. President Zelenskyy thanked Qatar for backing Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, promising Ukraine’s reciprocal support in international forums.
