Police are on the hunt for two suspects following a violent assault and vehicle theft early this morning in Burpengary, Queensland. The incident began at 5:45 am when a woman was approached at a service station on the Bruce Highway by a man and a woman. The male suspect assaulted the woman, demanding her car keys, but she managed to escape with them.

Undeterred, the pair then targeted another parked vehicle, smashing its window and assaulting the female passenger inside. Despite their efforts, the victim did not possess her car keys. The suspects eventually succeeded in stealing a Mitsubishi Outlander after assaulting its male driver. The duo fled north on the Bruce Highway in the stolen car.

The Mitsubishi Outlander was later found crashed on a property in Glenview at around 11:15 am. Police believe the pair fled into nearby bushland before they could be apprehended. An extensive search by law enforcement has so far failed to locate the suspects. Officers have seized the vehicle and a firearm found nearby as part of their ongoing investigation.

Police are urging the suspects to come forward and are appealing to the public for any information. They encourage anyone with details to contact Policelink or provide anonymous tips via Crime Stoppers.
