Samsung Electronics has become the first company to receive the BSI IT Security Label for its home appliances, under a new mutual recognition arrangement between South Korea and Germany. This achievement marks a significant step forward in product security and international cooperation in the tech industry. The mutual recognition arrangement (MRA) was established between the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) and Germany’s Federal Office for Information Security (BSI). It allows for the mutual recognition of cybersecurity evaluations, streamlining market access for tech products while ensuring rigorous security standards are met. Samsung’s Bespoke AI Jet Bot Steam Ultra robot vacuum cleaner and Bespoke AI Refrigerator were awarded the BSI IT Security Label, following their high-level cybersecurity performance as certified by KISA. Jeong Seung Moon, Executive Vice President of Samsung Electronics, highlighted the importance of this achievement, stating, “We will continue to prioritize robust IoT security so that users can enjoy the convenience of AI-powered home appliances with greater confidence.” The products received the highest “Standard” grade from KISA, indicating their resilience against advanced digital threats. At the IFA 2025 event in Berlin, a ceremony was held to commemorate the signing of the MRA and the certification of Samsung’s products. Enhanced security features such as the Knox Matrix Trust Chain and Knox Vault are incorporated into the devices, providing users with secure home automation and connectivity. This milestone not only enhances consumer trust in Samsung’s innovative appliances but also sets a precedent for future cross-border cybersecurity collaborations.
