In a recent address at the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized the nation’s ongoing integration into the European Union. Joined by European leaders, including António Costa and representatives from Sweden, Zelenskyy highlighted the significance of Ukraine’s collaboration with EU partners in sectors such as defense, energy, and economic sustainability.

Speaking from Zakarpattia, a key economic region in Ukraine, President Zelenskyy praised the resilience and strength of Ukrainian communities amid ongoing conflict. He urged the government to bolster local industries through the “Made in Ukraine” initiative, promoting industrial parks and alternative energy solutions. Zelenskyy also called for the establishment of military risk insurance for frontline communities, with a detailed report expected soon from Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko.

The President extended gratitude to the EU and other international allies for their sanctions against Russia, underscoring the need for continued support to counteract Russian aggression. Zelenskyy stressed the importance of community involvement in diplomatic efforts and the implementation of international agreements, highlighting the role of local voices in shaping national and international policies.

Reflecting on future goals, Zelenskyy expressed the need for comprehensive veteran integration programs, urging communities to foster opportunities for veterans in education and entrepreneurship.
