Detectives from the Townsville Child Protection and Investigation Unit are urging the public for information following the arrest of a 47-year-old man from Kelso. The arrest, made on September 5, 2025, comes after an investigation into reports of stalking at various shopping centres in Hermit Park and Thuringowa, as well as a hardware store in Garbutt.

The investigation, which began in June 2024, focused on allegations that the man had been following multiple women and making inappropriate comments. Despite the troubling nature of the incidents, no physical injuries were reported.

Upon executing a search warrant at the suspect’s residence, detectives charged him with six counts of stalking, two counts of common assault, and one count of possessing dangerous drugs. He is scheduled to appear in the Townsville Magistrates Court at a later date.

Authorities believe there may be additional victims and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward. Individuals with relevant details are encouraged to contact Policelink or report anonymously via Crime Stoppers.

In cases of immediate danger, residents are advised to call emergency services. For those affected by sexual assault, support is available through various helplines.
