Ukraine and France Strengthen Alliance

In a significant diplomatic meeting held in Paris, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and French President Emmanuel Macron aligned their positions ahead of the Coalition of the Willing meeting. The discussions emphasized France’s unwavering support for Ukraine amidst ongoing tensions with Russia.

During their talks, Zelenskyy expressed deep gratitude for France’s leadership in supporting Ukraine. He highlighted the critical role of European and American alliances in increasing pressure on Russia, as no signals have been seen from Moscow to end the conflict. Macron noted this was Zelenskyy’s eighth visit to France, reaffirming the strength of their partnership.

The leaders discussed security guarantees for Ukraine, a topic that has been intensively worked on by military and defense officials from the Coalition of the Willing, following Zelenskyy’s meetings with European leaders and the U.S. President in Washington. Macron emphasized Europe’s readiness to provide these guarantees once peace is established.

Defense support for Ukraine, sanctions against Russia, and the potential use of frozen Russian assets were also on the agenda. Zelenskyy emphasized the importance of a strong Ukrainian army and security guarantees for the nation’s future. Discussions also included Ukraine’s EU membership, with France pledging steadfast support in advancing Ukraine and Moldova’s simultaneous progression into the European Union.
