In a tragic incident on the Bruce Highway in Babinda, a 76-year-old motorcyclist lost his life following a collision with a Toyota Landcruiser on the afternoon of August 29, 2025.

The accident occurred around 1 pm, prompting a swift response from police and emergency services. The rider of the Honda CBR1000RR, identified as a man from Eubenangee, was pronounced dead at the scene. Meanwhile, the driver of the Landcruiser, a 32-year-old local from Babinda, escaped without physical injuries.

Authorities have initiated an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash. The Forensic Crash Unit (FCU) is actively seeking witnesses and anyone with dashcam footage of the incident to assist in their inquiries.

The Queensland Police Service continues its efforts to raise awareness about road safety, emphasizing the importance of avoiding the ‘Fatal Five’ driving behaviors: speeding, impaired driving, not wearing seatbelts, fatigue, and distractions.
