In a significant development, Townsville police have apprehended a second minor in connection with a series of early-morning break-ins in the North Ward area. The incidents occurred on August 26, targeting two sporting clubs, a restaurant, and a café along The Strand, where alcohol was stolen from two establishments.

A 14-year-old boy from Hermit Park was charged on August 28 with multiple offenses, including six counts of wilful damage and four counts of entering premises to commit an indictable offense. He is due to appear in Townsville Children’s Court today. Earlier, a 13-year-old Mount Louisa boy was charged with similar offenses and is being held in custody until his court appearance on September 16.

Detective Inspector Jason Shepherd emphasized the police’s commitment to community safety, stating, “Our goal is to reduce crime and increase community safety by swiftly identifying and apprehending offenders.” He added that repeat offenders would be held accountable and brought before the courts.

The police are continuing their investigations and encourage anyone with information to contact Policelink or Crime Stoppers.
