Early this morning, a fatal single-vehicle crash occurred in Zillmere, prompting an investigation by the Forensic Crash Unit. A black Volkswagen Golf collided with a tree on Merrett Avenue near Norbiton Street at approximately 1:25 am. The driver, a 40-year-old man from Zillmere, was initially taken from the scene but was later pronounced dead.

Three other occupants—a 42-year-old woman, a 38-year-old woman, and a 14-year-old girl, all from Zillmere—sustained serious injuries and were transported to a hospital for treatment. Authorities are appealing to the public for any witnesses or individuals with relevant CCTV or dashcam footage to assist with the ongoing investigation.

Queensland Police emphasize the importance of road safety, urging drivers to avoid the ‘Fatal Five’ behaviors: speeding, drink and drug driving, not wearing seatbelts, fatigue, and distraction. They remind everyone that road safety is a collective responsibility.
