A 33-year-old man has been charged by the Queensland Police Service after an alleged hit-and-run incident in Fortitude Valley. The incident occurred on Thursday, May 8, when the man, driving a red Toyota Corolla, reportedly struck a pedestrian outside a nightclub on Brunswick Street. Following the collision, the driver hit a street sign and attempted to flee the scene on foot before being apprehended by authorities at the intersection of Ballow Street and Wickham Street.

The pedestrian, a 23-year-old man, sustained minor injuries and was taken to the Royal Brisbane Women’s Hospital for treatment. The driver, identified as a Morningside resident, has been charged with multiple offenses including unlawful use of a motor vehicle, failure to remain at the scene of an incident, and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle. He appeared in court on May 9 and has been remanded in custody until June 27.
