Ukrainian, Italian Leaders Forge Stronger Ties

In a significant diplomatic engagement, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine met with President Sergio Mattarella of Italy on July 9, 2025. The meeting underscored the deepening relations and mutual respect between the two nations amidst ongoing challenges posed by the Russian Federation.

During the discussions, President Zelenskyy expressed gratitude to Italy for its unwavering support of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. He emphasized the importance of strengthening sanctions and enhancing Ukraine’s defensive capabilities to counter Russian aggression. The two leaders also addressed the urgent issue of Ukrainian children forcibly taken to Russia, advocating for international cooperation to ensure their safe return.

This tribunal seeks to hold Russia accountable and expedite judicial proceedings, with Italy’s participation deemed crucial for its success.
